Letter From The Vascular Neurology Fellowship Director

On behalf of the faculty, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Comprehensive Stroke Program, the Department of Neurology, and the School of Medicine and Public Health of the University of Wisconsin. The Vascular Neurology Fellowship Program has been organized to provide you with the experiences and resources you will need to grow into the role of an independent stroke neurologist in your future career. There are ample opportunities both within and without our department to develop as a clinician, educator, and researcher.

The field of vascular neurology is changing rapidly, and fellowship-specific training is increasingly important to allow you to become a resource to your future patients and other health care providers who will seek you out for advice and guidance. We will provide a fellowship balancing sufficient structure to ensure deep and wide stroke-specific knowledge and experience, while also allowing sufficient flexibility for you to pursue your specific professional interests. One aspect of that flexibility is an optional track to focus on the emerging field of Inpatient Neurology – there is a growing demand for neurohospitalists, and if you are interested we would like to work with you to develop a clinical and educational course that would allow you to confidently enter this role after training.

We are delighted that you have decided to join our team, and look forward to helping you in any way we can during your time with us.
