The University of Wisconsin Vascular Neurology Fellowship

The University of Wisconsin is offering an ACGME-accredited Vascular Neurology Fellowship position to begin 7/01/2009.

The UW Health Comprehensive Stroke Program is led by four full-time Vascular Neurologists in collaboration with Vascular Neurosurgery, Neuroendovascular Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cardiology, Neuroradiology, Critical Care, and Rehabilitation.  The robust inpatient and outpatient services showcase the full spectrum of cerebrovascular disease, including both rare disorders and unusual presentations of common conditions.  The clinical services are complimented by extensive educational opportunities within the Department of Neurology and the greater university, as well as ample opportunities for clinical and/or basic research.  Fellows participate in all aspects of care during rotations on the Stroke Service and related specialties, as well as having several elective months in which to tailor the year for their interests.  The opportunity to focus elective time in the emerging field of Inpatient Neurology is available for those interested in pursuing a career as a Neurohospitalist.  Our practice locations are the UW Hospital and Clinics and the adjacent William S. Middleton VA Hospital.  We also interact with many smaller community hospitals throughout the state by telephone and through our developing telemedicine network.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates who wish to achieve clinical excellence in the care of stroke patients, and who have an interest in the educational and research opportunities available at the UW.  Our goal is to provide a breadth of training experiences to foster confidence and the clinical skills necessary for the care of stroke patients, while maintaining the flexibility to allow fellows to pursue their interests during the early portion of their career.  The city of Madison is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the US, with a beautiful natural setting and endless recreational opportunities.
